About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Public Relations Associate to join our team at Educational Testing Service (ETS). As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing communications campaigns that align with our business and mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute public relations strategies to improve public perception of ETS
- Oversee the delivery of key messages to target audiences through traditional and non-traditional earned media
- Position ETS positively with key external groups, including higher education faculty and administration, policymakers, key education associations, press, and other opinion leaders
- Help inform ETS brand strategy, bringing both strategic and tactical approaches to digital and social content, media relations, executive thought leadership, and events
- Actively engage, participate in, and contribute to brand team planning and strategy efforts
- Develop working relationships with key media contacts
- Draft and disseminate content, including press releases, media alerts, articles, and other media for ETS newsroom, social media posts, social media content campaigns, video, infographic, and other content types
- Develop background materials and remarks for leadership in connection with media interviews, press briefings, conferences, business meetings, trips, and other public events
- Oversee contracted PR agencies and vendors to ensure tactics are being executed in a manner consistent with established strategies, timelines, and budgets
- Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the job function
Requirements:
- Ability to create and implement a communications plan with international elements
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong interpersonal and consensus-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work non-traditional hours when necessary
- A commitment to working collaboratively as part of a cross-divisional team
- Knowledge of web-based technology and demonstrated use of social and media tools for content creation and brand journalism, media tracking, research, analysis, and targeted communications
- Experience with crisis management
- Experience in working with education issues; K-12 education a plus
