Job Title: Commercial Banker

Are you a motivated and results-driven professional looking to make a real impact in the financial services industry? We are seeking a Commercial Banker to join our team at First Bankers Trust Company.

Job Summary:

The Commercial Banker will be responsible for developing and managing a loan portfolio with total commercial assets of $25MM to $50MM that meets established lending requirements and provides maximum profitability to the bank with minimum risk. This position will work closely with the financial institution's broader lending and credit teams, compliance team, and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and establish relationships with new lending clients while building and managing the associated loan portfolio
  • Devote a significant amount of time to new business development
  • Analyze potential loan markets to find opportunities to promote loans and financial services
  • Interview clients and collect and analyze financial and related data to determine the general credit-worthiness of the prospects and merits of the specific loan requests
  • Analyze, establish and negotiate the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule, and collateral payments
  • Make decisions on loans and terms within established lending limits, or make recommendations to a supervisor and/or the loan approval committee
  • Counsel applicants on loan repayments policies and restrictions
  • Monitor loan status, including repayment activities, and take action to collect from past due accounts when necessary
  • May provide leadership and direction for other commercial bankers, with responsibility for financial, loan, and deposit performance, as well as growth, risk control, and profit performance
  • Develop materials for and make loan presentations to the Loan Officers Committee and the Director's Loan Committee, as required
  • Participate in community events and activities to increase the bank's visibility and to uncover new business opportunities
  • Develop and execute special projects as required
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, related field or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of related experience/exposure within the banking industry
  • Demonstrates aptitude for mathematical and/or financial transactions
  • Demonstrates experience developing business and prospecting
  • Demonstrates strong value selling and negotiations skills
  • Demonstrates excellent relationship building capabilities
  • Demonstrates ability to execute day to day work under limited supervision
  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills (customer-oriented)
  • Demonstrates ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multi-task daily job duties
  • Demonstrates ability to make fact-based/data driven decisions in stressful situations
  • Demonstrates ability to address complex job related/technical issues and problems
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong team collaboration/team work skills, with ability to work in diverse teams and build/maintain positive working relationships
  • Demonstrates ability to interact efficiently with banking software, as well as utilize common office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications; willingness to learn new technologies
  • Demonstrates ability to work with a significant amount of detailed information in an accurate, timely and confidential manner
