Job Title: Instructional Support Staff

Job Summary:

The Waco Independent School District is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Instructional Support Staff to join our team. As an Instructional Support Staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructional program and providing assistance to teachers in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students under the supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, working with individual students or small groups.
  • Assist in classroom management, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Conduct parent involvement activities, fostering strong relationships with families.
  • Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, promoting a visually appealing and engaging learning space.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom, promoting a sense of organization and responsibility.
  • Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment, ensuring that all necessary tools are available and in good working condition.
  • Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports, ensuring compliance with district and state regulations.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers, ensuring a smooth transition and minimizing disruptions.
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry trends.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned, contributing to a positive and collaborative school culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing needs.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or two years of study (60 college hours) at an institute of higher learning or Para Professional Institute Certificate.
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Ability to work well with children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Some experience working with children.

Working Conditions:

Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Constant contact with students, parents, and staff. Maintain emotional control under stress.
