Job Summary

Are you passionate about making a difference in your local community? Join CHS Inc. as a Custom Applicator in Wagner, SD, and take on a role that involves working independently as a Custom Applicator. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building relationships with local farmers to understand their chemical and fertilizer needs
  • Managing your time effectively in the field by operating a sprayer/airflow machine while loading and applying products safely, accurately, and efficiently
  • Receiving hands-on experience and technical skills by handling various types of machinery and routine equipment maintenance

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, you will apply fertilizer and crop protection products, which may require the use of a high-clearance sprayer or floater. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Picking up and delivering product to customers as needed
  • Working with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Educating customers on products being applied to fields, techniques utilized, and how you can continue to support them with products and services
  • Assisting the sales staff in ensuring orders are correct and patron needs are met
  • Performing warehouse work, including driving a loader, forklift, mechanics, and maintenance
  • Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including pre-trip and post-trip reporting, proper load securement, and hours of service
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles inside and out, as well as the work environment
  • Completing and documenting daily maintenance inspections and ensuring proper equipment maintenance, including repairs and preventive maintenance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in Agriculture Production, Operations, and/or Agriculture Application
  • Meet the minimum age requirement

Additional Qualifications:

  • Maintain or be able to obtain a CDL and DOT medical card
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to work additional hours, be available for overnight stays, and occasional weekends to meet business demands
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Agriculture background and customer experience preferred
