Job Summary

CHS Inc. is a leading global agribusiness that provides grain, food, and energy resources to businesses and consumers worldwide. We are seeking a skilled Custom Applicator to join our team in Wagner, SD.

This role involves creating relationships with local farmers to understand their chemical and fertilizer needs. You will manage your time effectively in the field, operating a sprayer/airflow machine while loading and applying products safely, accurately, and efficiently.

As a Custom Applicator, you will receive hands-on experience and technical skills by handling various types of machinery and routine equipment maintenance. You will also have the opportunity to work with one of the largest cooperatives in the U.S. and make a positive impact in our local communities.

Responsibilities

  • Apply fertilizer and crop protection products under general supervision, which may require the use of a high-clearance sprayer or floater.
  • Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed.
  • Work with customers in a courteous and professional manner, educating them on products being applied to fields, techniques utilized, and how to continue supporting them with products and services.
  • Assist the sales staff in ensuring orders are correct and patron needs are met.
  • Perform warehouse work, including driving a loader, forklift, mechanics, and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including pre-trip and post-trip reporting, proper load securement, and hours of service.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of vehicle(s) inside and out, and work environment.
  • Complete and document daily maintenance inspections, ensuring proper equipment maintenance, including repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in Agriculture Production, Operations, and/or Agriculture Application.
  • Must meet minimum age requirement.

Additional Qualifications

  • Maintain or be able to obtain a CDL and DOT medical card.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work additional hours, be available for overnight stays, and occasional weekends to meet business demands.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Agriculture background and customer experience preferred.
  • Pre-employment screening may be required, which may include drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements, and FMSCA Clearinghouse.
