Sterile Processing Department Supervisor

As a Supervisor of the Sterile Processing Department at Kaiser Permanente, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring the safe and efficient processing of medical equipment and instruments. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain a high level of quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring timely delivery of clean and sterile instrumentation and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain a safe work environment, adhering to CDC, OSHA, EPA, AAMI, State, APIC, and Joint Commission guidelines and standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for decontamination, setup, and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Sterile Processing Site Manager to evaluate and implement changes in policies and procedures.
- Conduct departmental orientation, training, and skills review, and assist with educational programs to maintain high staff performance standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and control costs, ensuring adequate supplies and minimizing waste.
- Assist with payroll, non-payroll, and capital budgets, and provide support for quality assurance reports.
- Communicate effectively with staff and ancillary departments, providing a forum for staff involvement in problem identification and resolution.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating Room.
- Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Knowledge of sterile processing and regulatory requirements, as well as PC skills and outstanding communication skills.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Sterile Processing Technician and/or Sterile Processing Manager certification from International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) strongly preferred.
- Rotating weekends/holidays On-Call.
