Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to join our Central Sterile Processing team at UPMC Presbyterian. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the department, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in instrument and equipment processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of Central Sterile Processing technicians to ensure efficient and effective processing of instruments and equipment.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and UPMC standards.
  • Collaborate with the manager to ensure quality of care in Central Sterile Processing by implementing, communicating, and/or developing philosophies of standards of care.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships internally and externally by building teams and relationships through mentoring and modeling uplifting and positive communication.
  • Participate in the preparation of staff annual evaluation documents and ensure a fully qualified and competent workgroup by coaching, scheduling, motivating, and assisting in the development of employees in Central Sterile Processing.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • 3 years experience in central sterile processing.
  • 2 years supervisory or team leader experience required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
  • Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
