M1 Abrams Tank Systems Maintainer Job Description

The Army National Guard is seeking highly skilled individuals to maintain the M1 Abrams Tank, a critical component of the armored forces. As a Tank Systems Maintainer, you will be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance on these vehicles, ensuring they remain operational and effective.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in the tank's systems, including suspension, steering, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Perform organizational maintenance and on-board direct support tasks, including repairs and replacements of parts.
  • Work with diesel and turbine engines, as well as electronic and mechanical test equipment.
Requirements:
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in working with complex mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical knowledge in a dynamic environment.
Training and Benefits:

As a Tank Systems Maintainer, you will receive comprehensive training in the maintenance and repair of the M1 Abrams Tank. You will learn from experienced instructors and gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting. In addition, you will earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance.

Job training for this position requires 10 weeks of Basic Training and 24 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
