About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at HES Facilities. As a key member of our custodial staff, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our school facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors, machine shampoo carpeting, and clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.
  • Window and Glass Care: Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
  • Trash and Recycling: Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans immediately outside building entrances.
  • Restroom Maintenance: Clean restrooms, plunger sinks, and toilets, and replenish supplies.
  • Lighting and Electrical: Change interior light bulbs that can be reached from the sixth step of a ladder or lower.
  • Work Requests: Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work.
  • Snow and Ice Removal: Remove snow and ice and apply salt and/or ice-melting products to assigned areas when needed.
  • Custodial Closet Organization: Organize and supply custodial closets as needed.
  • Moving and Setup: Move, remove, and/or set up furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and any other items, inside specified rooms for special functions as directed.
  • Additional Duties: Perform additional job-related duties as required by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Able to read, write, and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, push, pull, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel, walk up to 8 hours per day, climb ladders, scaffolds up to 6' high, and stairs, and use basic hand tools.
