About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Collect, document, and report vital signs such as blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights.
  • Complete screening questions and document all items into the medical record.
  • Promote general patient safety and perform minor specimen testing.
  • Hold, position patients, and assist with procedures.
  • Prep all materials and supplies as needed.
  • Remain compliant with HIPAA, maintain professionalism, and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ensure environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
  • Identify learning needs and attend continuing education as appropriate.
  • Participate in educational activities offered by the business unit.
  • Act as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Active State Tested Nursing Assistant, OR One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past 3 years, OR Nursing students can qualify if they have successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing course(s) of an approved college/school program.
  • Current CPR (BLS for healthcare provider required).
  • Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills.
  • Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age-appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients.
