Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Med Tech II to join our team at North Oaks Medical Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in assigned work sections, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, and Urinalysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proficiently performs laboratory tests and procedures following established policies, procedures, and requirements of accrediting and regulating agencies.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work to accomplish maximum quantity and quality of work assignments.
  • Monitors testing analyzers for optimum performance and performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Performs and evaluates quality control and records results, troubleshooting quality control problems as needed.
  • Records and reports test results, maintaining all required records, reports, and statistical logs and files.
  • Identifies, verifies, and reports critical results per established laboratory/hospital policy.
  • Reports any unusual laboratory findings or problems using established departmental and organizational quality and safety avenues.
  • Monitors and maintains adequate supplies and reagents associated with assigned duties.
  • Maintains appropriate working knowledge of hospital/department computer software and other digital systems.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as necessary, representing the department at conferences and working committees as directed.
  • Ensures own professional growth and development through literature review, seminars, conferences, and professional affiliations.
  • Assists in all aspects of emergency response and may be required to work other shifts, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science required, with a degree in clinical laboratory science/medical technology preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program required.
  • Current license by Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Specialist.
  • Ability to distinguish and identify color, with manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities is essential.
