Clinical Nurse Practitioner

The Clinical Nurse Practitioner will be a member of the healthcare team at North Oaks Medical Center, providing quality nursing care to adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of previous LPN experience, preferably in a clinic setting, and be a graduate of an accredited nursing school. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct nursing care, adjusting methods to accommodate the needs of each age group, and upholding the Philosophy and Objectives of NOHS. The Clinical Nurse Practitioner will also be responsible for patient care limited to guidelines established by the LSBN, and will work effectively with nursing personnel, physicians, and other hospital departments to provide excellent patient care.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the maintenance of quality patient care by greeting patients in a courteous and friendly manner, calling patients from the waiting area, and obtaining and recording patient's weight, height, and vitals.
2. Record medications the patient is currently taking and chief complaint(s) in the patient's medical record, and perform phlebotomy as ordered by physician and according to policy.
3. Assist physician with patient examinations and procedures, administer medications in a safe and effective manner, and perform waived laboratory testing as ordered.
4. Maintain satisfactory communications by communicating effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians, and promoting satisfactory relationships by coordinating referrals, hospital procedure testing, and admissions with appropriate personnel.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree from an accredited nursing school, be currently licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners, and maintain licensure. The successful candidate will also possess good physical health, and be knowledgeable of hospital safety codes and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for adhering to policy and procedure, and participating in professional development activities, including attending committee meetings and in-service programs.
