About the Role

Oscar Health is seeking an experienced Attorney to join our Regulatory Legal & Government Affairs team. As a key contributor to the development of our state and legal department, you will leverage your expertise in state legislative and regulatory processes to drive our company's growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of analysts to track proposed and enacted legislation, regulations, and other regulatory guidance impacting Oscar.
  • Provide legal counsel on legislative and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and track legislative and regulatory updates, identifying potential risks and opportunities for Oscar.
  • Develop and implement strategies to advocate for Oscar's interests with policymakers, trade associations, and other external partners.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of new laws and regulations.
  • Manage relationships with state trade associations and other stakeholders to promote policies that benefit Oscar's interests.
  • Represent Oscar's interests with elected officials, state legislators, and trade group leaders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in health insurance trade groups, state legislative staff, health insurance industry, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with state legislative and regulatory processes, as well as federal health insurance regulators, is essential.
  • Strong communication and project management skills are required.

  • Licensed attorney in good standing.
  • Familiarity with the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare.gov or other State-based Exchanges.
  • Experience working with attorneys and internal stakeholders.
