Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager Medical Imaging and BHMG Lifestyle Medicine Manager, this Radiologic Technologist Mammographer will perform a variety of technical Bone Densitometry and mammographic procedures, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designated areas or procedures as required, adapting their care to the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of adult and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet and greet patients, providing an understandable explanation of mammographic/bone density examinations to reduce apprehension.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of all patients in accordance with prescribed standards.
• Schedule patients for bone density and mammography examinations, maintaining an efficient patient flow.
• Perform diagnostic procedures, demonstrating a sound understanding of anatomical positioning, physiology, and technical factors to produce optimal results.
• Operate fixed radiographic equipment in the Radiology Department at WMC, assisting with needle localization procedures as needed.
• Process radiographic images and send them to PACS for physician review.
• Maintain quality control for the mammography unit and bone density equipment, adhering to MQSA, ACR, and ISCD guidelines.
• Participate in the training and instruction of radiologic technology for staff radiographers and students, as applicable.

Requirements:

• Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent.
• Current license to work in the State of Rhode Island and current ARRT certification, as well as mammography certification.
• Ability to consistently meet critical thinking, interpersonal skills, team membership, customer focus, initiative, and reliability job accountabilities.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This role will work in a healthcare environment, such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. The ideal candidate will be able to walk and stand intermittently throughout the day, lift and position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds, and work with medical equipment with direct patient contact.
