Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Brown University Health. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients' illnesses and injuries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transfer patients to positions and instruct them on procedures to obtain desired radiographic diagnostic results.
  • Utilize immobilization devices and lead shields to protect patients from radiation exposure.
  • Calculate and select proper technical factors for radiographic procedures.
  • Assist physicians in specialized examinations, such as intravenous phlebography.
  • Operate x-ray equipment and review processed film for quality and completeness.
  • Ensure accurate completion of films, examination requisitions, and related records.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and ensure examination rooms are properly supplied.
Requirements
  • Registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists and two years of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current and valid license from the Department of Health to practice in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Ability to operate all types of x-ray and related equipment.
  • Conceptual ability to determine means of providing requested radiographs of acceptable diagnostic quality.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical and/or emotional stress.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Main Radiology Department or smaller satellite operation with minimal discomfort due to noise, dust, or temperature. Exposed to radiation, but with established safety procedures, there is little risk of illness or injury.

Continuous standing, walking, pushing of portable radiographic equipment, lifting, and positioning of patients are required. Some exposure to odors from human waste and chemicals from automatic film processing equipment is experienced.
