Position: Maintenance Reliability Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute strategies aimed at enhancing existing maintenance practices and processes to boost equipment efficiency, reliability, and reduce repair expenditures.
  • Utilize expertise from company specialists to elevate current maintenance and reliability initiatives through improved communication and sharing of best practices on a global scale.
  • Design and provide extensive maintenance and reliability training programs for maintenance personnel worldwide.
  • Identify necessary equipment and process enhancements and manage related projects effectively.
  • Collaborate with global operations teams to synchronize maintenance activities that support operational excellence, emphasizing waste reduction in a Lean Manufacturing context.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams (Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, etc.) to ensure operational efficiency in new facilities and expansions, considering life cycle costs in global equipment procurement.
  • Oversee maintenance department staff, focusing on their growth through performance management and tailored development opportunities.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance activities with Maintenance Technicians, providing guidance on maintenance-related inquiries, ensuring access to current maintenance procedures, and fostering effective team communication.
  • Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, planned and predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory, and maintenance history of equipment globally.
  • Analyze operational data and equipment performance metrics to enhance critical maintenance indicators, including unplanned downtime, PM compliance, schedule adherence, Mean Time Between Failures, and maintenance costs.
  • Initiate and manage the plant maintenance program based on industry best practices, focusing on planning/scheduling, preventive/predictive maintenance, and safety, health, and environmental policies.

Operational Excellence/Lean Initiatives:

  • Actively engage in sustainable improvement initiatives and apply OE tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work, and Problem Solving.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to align with corporate Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) vision and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Incorporate Lean Manufacturing principles and tools, including 5S, Kaizen, TPM, Standard Work, and Kanban, to drive improvements and achieve cost efficiencies.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in supervising and providing technical support in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience in installing, operating, and maintaining chemical or mineral processing equipment, as well as maintenance management systems and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Strong preference for candidates with extensive Lean/TPM experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude necessary for training, auditing, and monitoring work in plant process areas.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Operational Excellence, including proficiency in Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, TPM, Standard Work, and Kanban.
  • Exceptional communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a commitment to supporting global business objectives.

Working Conditions:

This position typically involves working in a controlled office environment, with regular movement around the office, including walking, sitting at a desk, and using office equipment. Interaction with individuals both internal and external to the organization occurs through various communication methods. Occasionally, there may be exposure to production areas, which can include varying temperatures, outdoor weather conditions, loud equipment noise, and dust from production processes. Appropriate safety equipment is provided for such situations.

Work Hours: The standard schedule is typically during the day shift. However, the employee must be flexible to work the necessary hours, including overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.

Safety Training:

New employees in this position will undergo comprehensive training, including online modules and instruction from qualified personnel in a classroom setting.
