Position Overview

Direct Counsel, LLC is in search of a skilled attorney to fill the role of a mid-level associate within our esteemed national management-side labor and employment practice. This position is based in New York, NY, and presents a unique opportunity to engage with intricate legal issues pertaining to labor and employment law, particularly in the realm of accessibility and disability accommodation regulations.

Primary Duties:

  • Exhibit a profound interest in laws and regulations surrounding accessibility and disability accommodations, specifically Titles I, II, and III of the ADA, the Rehabilitation Act, and corresponding state and local statutes.
  • Manage litigation cases, regulatory investigations, interactions with advocacy groups, and provide compliance counseling, policy formulation, and training initiatives.
  • Demonstrate experience with Title III of the ADA, including accessibility auditing and management for both physical and digital platforms.
  • Support general employment litigation efforts, showcasing knowledge of federal and state employment regulations.
  • Oversee various litigation processes, including witness interviews, document reviews, drafting legal pleadings and motions, conducting depositions, liaising with clients and opposing counsel, and attending court sessions.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of dedicated experience in labor and employment law.
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law institution.
  • Mandatory admission to practice law in New York, encompassing both state and federal courts.
  • Strong academic background coupled with exceptional communication and writing capabilities.
  • Proven experience in accessibility and disability accommodation laws, particularly Title III of the ADA.
  • Understanding of public accommodation accessibility challenges for both physical locations and digital environments.
  • Experience in accessibility auditing and/or managing external auditors is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The anticipated salary range for this role is $205,000 - $290,000. Salary offers will reflect a variety of factors including skills, training, experience, education, and relevant licensure or certification. Alongside a competitive base salary, the firm provides a comprehensive employee benefits package and eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
