Job Overview

Direct Counsel, LLC is in search of a skilled attorney to fulfill the role of a mid-level or senior associate within a distinguished firm specializing in national management-side labor and employment law. This position presents a unique opportunity to engage with intricate legal issues pertaining to labor and employment regulations, particularly focusing on accessibility and disability accommodation statutes.

Primary Duties:

  • Exhibit a profound interest in laws and regulations concerning accessibility and disability accommodations, including Titles I, II, and III of the ADA, the Rehabilitation Act, and relevant state and local legislation.
  • Manage litigation cases, regulatory investigations, interactions with advocacy groups, and tasks involving compliance counseling, policy formulation, and training initiatives.
  • Possess experience with Title III of the ADA and oversee accessibility auditing and management for both physical and digital environments.
  • Provide comprehensive support for employment litigation, demonstrating knowledge of federal and state employment statutes.
  • Engage in various litigation processes, including witness interviews, review of electronically stored information, drafting legal documents and motions, conducting depositions, liaising with clients and opposing counsel, and representing in court proceedings.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law institution.
  • Mandatory admission to practice law in New York, encompassing both state and federal courts.
  • Strong academic background complemented by excellent communication and writing capabilities.
  • Proven experience in accessibility and disability accommodation laws, particularly Title III of the ADA.
  • Understanding of public accommodation accessibility challenges for both physical and digital entities.
  • Experience in accessibility auditing and/or managing external auditors is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The anticipated salary range for this role is $205,000 - $290,000. Salary offers are determined based on various factors, including skills, training, experience, education, and relevant licensure or certification. Alongside a competitive base salary, the firm provides a comprehensive employee benefits package and eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
