Job Overview

Direct Counsel, LLC is in search of a skilled attorney to fill the role of a mid-level or senior associate within our esteemed national management-side labor and employment practice. This position presents a unique opportunity to engage with intricate legal issues pertaining to labor and employment law, particularly focusing on accessibility and disability accommodation statutes and regulations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit a profound interest in accessibility and disability accommodation statutes and regulations, including Titles I, II, and III of the ADA, the Rehabilitation Act, and corresponding state/local laws.
  • Manage litigations, regulatory investigations, interactions with advocacy groups, and tasks involving compliance counseling, policy formulation, and training.
  • Possess expertise in Title III of the ADA and accessibility auditing/management for both physical and digital platforms.
  • Provide comprehensive support in employment litigation, demonstrating knowledge of federal and state employment legislation.
  • Oversee various litigation processes such as witness interviews, review of electronically stored information, drafting legal documents and motions, conducting and defending depositions, liaising with clients and opposing counsel, and attending court sessions.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law institution.
  • Mandatory admission to practice law in New York (state and federal courts).
  • Strong academic background coupled with exceptional communication and writing abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in accessibility and disability accommodation statutes and regulations, particularly Title III of the ADA.
  • Familiarity with public accommodation accessibility challenges for both physical locations and digital platforms.
  • Experience in accessibility auditing and/or managing external auditors is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The anticipated salary range for this role is $205,000 - $290,000. Salary offers are determined based on various factors including skills, training, experience, education, and relevant licensure or certification. Alongside a competitive base salary, the firm provides a comprehensive employee benefits package and eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
