We are seeking a highly skilled Instrument Technician to join our team at the City of Naples, FL. As an Instrument Technician, you will be responsible for performing highly skilled technical and mechanical work involving installation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic equipment of City utilities systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and manual control systems, calibrate flow meters, chlorine analyzers, lime slakers, or other electrical control systems, and determine problems, errors, or repairs needed.
- Install, maintain, and repair radio and communications telemetry equipment, monitor control equipment, and control panel equipment for lift stations, water well sites, and treatment plants.
- Calibrate, test, maintain, and repair confined entry gas detection equipment and devices, ensure equipment complies with regulatory standards, and replace sensors, batteries, filters, air liners, etc.
- Perform layout and documentation of new installations of lift stations, water wells, and equipment at treatment plants, construct new control panels, verify and amend schematics, and utilize various computer programs to update schematics.
- Assist mechanical personnel, as needed, in lift station, water well, and treatment plant maintenance and repair, provide guidance, assistance, troubleshooting, and training regarding electrical components, control valves, etc.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic techniques, instruments, and equipment in troubleshooting and identifying radio telemetry and other electronic problems.
- Perform related duties, receive and interpret daily work orders, prioritize and prepare for assigned tasks, inspect and test tools, vehicles, and safety gear, review and restock supplies and service vehicle inventory, inspect equipment and systems, and maintain related documentation and records.
- High school diploma or GED with vocational or technical training in electrical engineering.
- Supplemented by two (2) years of experience in electronics or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
- Possession of a class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker and air brakes endorsements may be required, and possession and maintenance of a driving record which meets or exceeds minimum City driving standards.
- Possession of the following licenses and certifications: Water Distribution System Operator, Wastewater Collections may be required.
