As a leading national laboratory for the Department of Energy's Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE), INL is at the forefront of nuclear research and development. Our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) provides a unique environment for innovation, combining specialized personnel and advanced facilities to advance nuclear fuel research from development to post-irradiation analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will undertake a variety of tasks to support operational functions. You will be expected to uphold leadership principles and Human Performance Improvement (HPI) practices. Your expertise will encompass:
- Planning, scheduling, and leading assessments while guiding team members involved in these evaluations.
- Identifying potential risks that could impact management system outcomes and creating assurance plans to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Providing analytical insights to leadership to enhance operational performance.
- Directly overseeing safe and compliant execution of scheduled operational activities, ensuring adherence to procedural requirements.
- Ensuring that personnel are adequately trained and fit for duty, addressing any issues related to training and compliance.
- Monitoring non-operations personnel engaged in operational tasks to ensure adherence to Conduct of Operations (ConOps) and management protocols.
- Facilitating the continuous improvement of ConOps, ISMS, HPI, and VPP programs.
- Maintaining facility configuration in accordance with safety standards and identifying hazards along with their mitigations.
- Reviewing and providing input on facility operating documents while staying informed about operational requirements and safety limits.
- Communicating regularly with management regarding any identified issues or conflicts and recommending improvements.
- Completing assigned duties as directed by facility management and seeking leadership opportunities within tasks.
- Serving as an alternate for critical oversight roles and managing operational aspects of criticality safety.
- Qualifying as a USQ reviewer/approver.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution, accompanied by 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Professional experience in an operational or technical capacity.
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
- This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, necessitating US Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in a technical field.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, Tableau, or P6.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The salary range for this position is: Level 420 ($54,876-$107,064) / Level 430 ($63,528-$130,284). Compensation is determined based on education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
