Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Pharmacist to join our Specialty Central Fill team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the assigned area, including staffing, scheduling, personnel management, and inventory control. This is a full-time, day shift position that requires strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily pharmacy workflow, ensuring all assigned work is completed and transitioned appropriately to the next shift.
  • Resolve staff and operational issues, communicating with upper-level management as needed.
  • Manage technology issues and escalate as necessary.
  • Establish daily goals for the designated team to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Address staff performance, where necessary, and monitor and document staff performance for performance evaluations.
  • Manage purchasing and inventory issues, including loaning/borrowing medications and managing blood factor product consignment.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve or deny non-formulary requests when Drug Information services are unavailable.
  • Participate in PennChart Integrated Computer testing when necessary.
  • Maintain competency as a clinical pharmacist and function in multiple areas of the department.
Requirements
  • Pharmacist License with the PA Board of Pharmacy (required).
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD (required).
  • At least 2 years of Hospital pharmacy experience (required).
  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency (preferred).
  • PGY2 Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency (preferred).
