About the Role

Cornell University is seeking a highly skilled IT Support Assistant IV to join our team. As a key member of our Information Technology Service Group, you will provide first-level IT support for the College of Engineering, Computing and Information Science, and Cornell Tech communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, set up, and maintain desktop environments, including general applications support and logical connections to network and server environments.
  • Understand and follow departmental, college, university, and US computer and network security requirements.
  • Participate in maintaining computer and network security, including regular self-audits, adherence to University policy, and compliance with NY State and Federal laws/mandates.
  • Assist faculty computer and research needs, including installing/configuring Linux, MS Windows, Mac OS, and/or other operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot and solve issues related to computing and network connectivity problems.
  • Participate in identifying and recommending computing needs and solutions across the supported community.
  • Work with management team members to ensure standards and processes are up to date and followed.
  • Document activities via ticketing and document systems, and any other material necessary for disaster recovery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of installation, configuration, and troubleshooting techniques for Windows/Linux & Mac systems.
  • Basic Linux knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft services solutions, including Windows 10/11, Active Directory, and others.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Windows security practices, such as managed Anti-Virus, software firewalls, Anti-Spyware tools, security audit software, and service lockdowns.
  • Knowledge of Mac OSX operating systems and its integration with enterprise networks and solutions.
  • Able to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Aptitude to work on a team and independently as required by projects.
  • Proven record of delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSCE or other Microsoft Certification.
  • UNIX Certifications.
  • MEMCM Experience.
  • Intune Experience.
  • JAMF Experience.
