St. John's Episcopal Hospital is dedicated to providing essential emergency and outpatient care to the diverse and underserved communities of the Rockaways and Five Towns in southern Queens County and southwestern Nassau County, New York. With over 110 years of commitment to community health, our 257-bed facility offers a wide range of preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation services to individuals of all backgrounds, irrespective of their financial situation.
Position Type: Full-Time (75 hours biweekly)
Work Schedule: Days
Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Compensation: $31.96 per hour
Role Summary:
The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for accurately coding medical records using established coding classification systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately codes all diagnoses, surgical procedures, and diagnostic tests.
- Codes and abstracts inpatient records and outpatient surgical records.
- Codes and abstracts clinic records based on the assigned acuity grid.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- CLS or CPC Coding Certification required.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
