What You'll Be Doing

As a Coder Specialist, you will determine the extent of insurance coverage for patients' treatments.

You will review the appropriateness of CPT-4/ICD-10 coding and ensure that care provided corresponds to charges submitted.

You will also ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations and company policies governing Medicare and state payment systems.

Additionally, you may assist in identifying fraudulent non-plan billing practices and support the legal department with litigation preparation.

The Successful Candidate

Will be able to abstract clinical information from medical records charts and documents.

Will assign appropriate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to patient records according to documentation.

Will perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Will serve as a resource to employees and respond to employee questions related to coding/billing.

Will have knowledge of various specialties, with OB being a plus.

Will meet regularly with the Director of Physician Billing to identify trends and work with physicians and staff to reduce denials.

Will develop and update training related to coding/billing.

Will plan and schedule special projects as requested by Management.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual with a High School/Associates Degree and CPC-A/AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.

You should have personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and a working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.

You should also possess strong analytical and oral/written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well with others.
