Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to assist our physicians in providing top-notch patient care. The ideal candidate will be cross-trained to perform a range of administrative and clinical duties, including assisting with minor surgical procedures and documenting exam details.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet and greet patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
  • Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures, demonstrating a strong understanding of ophthalmic techniques and protocols.
  • Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ensure patient understanding of all instructions, providing clear guidance and support.
  • Precept and train fellow technicians, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments, adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, ensuring seamless operations and minimizing downtime.
  • Perform ancillary testing and document results, contributing to comprehensive patient care.
  • Administer medications according to compliance standards, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with equipment upkeep, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills, with a strong focus on communication and interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a patient-centered approach and a commitment to delivering exceptional care.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, with a willingness to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire.
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire.
