Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Museum Facilitator to join our team at the Chicago Children's Museum. As a key member of our Guest Experience Operations department, you will play a vital role in ensuring a highly interactive and educational learning experience for our museum visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Engage with visitors, provide inclusive physical and verbal cues, and ensure a welcoming environment for all.
  • Facilitate Engaging Experiences: Model positive, educational, creative, and respectful ways to interact with children and their caregivers through play.
  • Manage Exhibit Environments: Create and maintain a comfortable, safe, and engaging physical environment, including resetting exhibits and conducting health and safety protocols.
  • Support Team Members: Train, mentor, and support new play and learning facilitators and volunteers.
  • Embody DEAI Principles: Uphold diversity, equity, access, and inclusion principles in all interactions with staff and visitors.
  • Attend Staff Meetings: Participate in daily opening/closing meetings, monthly staff meetings, and other relevant gatherings.
  • Support Special Events: Assist with special events and offerings as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience Working with Children and Families: Proven experience in a customer service environment or similar role.
  • Interest in Working with Diverse Groups: Ability to work with children and families from various backgrounds, abilities, experiences, and perspectives.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Effective communication with visitors, including addressing large groups and one-on-one interactions.
  • Good Interpersonal and Organizational Skills: Ability to work well within a team, accept feedback, and integrate it into daily work.
  • Enthusiasm for Learning: Willingness to learn and master new skills, including Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion frameworks.
  • Coursework in Early Learning a Plus
  • Bilingual Skills a Plus
Physical Requirements
  • Stamina and Physical Endurance: Ability to stand on the museum floor all day, maintaining quality interaction with staff and visitors.
  • Repetitive Communication: Friendly and courteous communication with visitors and staff, speaking loudly over crowds.
  • Ability to Work in Loud/Crowded Spaces
