Job Summary

The College of the Canyons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director, Human Resources to lead the Human Resources department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and oversight to ensure the effective management of human resources across the college.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement human resources strategies and policies to support the college's mission and goals.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior leadership and managers on human resources matters, including employee relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, and labor relations.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process to ensure that the college attracts and retains top talent.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with labor unions and other stakeholders to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Manage and analyze human resources data to inform strategic decisions and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of human resources staff and other college employees.
  • Collaborate with other college departments to ensure alignment and integration of human resources initiatives with college goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, including experience working with employment processes and human resources information systems.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience maintaining a classification structure, conducting compensation studies and surveys, performing job analysis, and creating and revising job descriptions.
  • Successful experience in long and short-range planning.
  • Experience providing effective training.
  • Successful experience working with labor unions.
  • Human resources experience in the public sector and/or educational institutions is desirable.
