Description/Duties & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Senior Training and Development Analyst, this role will support the organization and enhancement of the City's training and professional development initiatives; the planning and execution of employee engagement activities; and the research and evaluation of employee risk and safety trends and strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training and Development

  • Facilitates the coordination, organization, and execution of employee training and development programs, including but not limited to the Mentoring Program, Job Shadowing Program, Lessons Learned sessions, Information Sessions, Supervisor Series, Leadership Academy, and Internship Program.
  • Conducts research and assists in the creation and modification of citywide training content.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as citywide announcements, monthly calendar updates, and weekly emails to ensure employees are informed about training programs and resources.
  • Assists in evaluating training programs to ensure they meet the needs of employees and the organization; tracks participation and program completion.
  • Oversees the training and development budget to ensure appropriate use of funds and assists in forecasting training requirements.
Engagement and Wellness Programming

  • Supports and coordinates employee wellness initiatives in collaboration with the City's employee-driven WorkWell committee; prepares meeting agendas; follows up on program development; drafts wellness communications; serves as backup facilitator for WorkWell meetings as necessary.
  • Evaluates programs by maintaining statistical reports and provides recommendations for program improvements.
  • Plans and coordinates logistics for various Citywide events, including employee meetings, recognition programs, and team-building activities.
  • Monitors the WorkWell budget to ensure proper fund utilization and assists in forecasting wellness needs.
Employee Risk and Safety

  • Assists in the formulation, implementation, and review of risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets risk-related data to support decision-making processes; prepares and presents comprehensive reports on risk metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
  • Assists in identifying, assessing, and documenting potential risks and vulnerabilities; supports the development of strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Monitors the risk management budget to ensure appropriate fund utilization and assists in forecasting employee health and safety needs.
  • Engages in other human resources projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in human resources, training, or employee development/engagement is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, SurveyMonkey, SmartSheet, and training design software is highly desirable.
  • Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver license.

Compensation includes enrollment in California Public Employees' Retirement System as a replacement for Social Security plus a competitive benefits package.
