Job Summary

College of the Canyons is seeking qualified adjunct faculty members in Theatre to join our adjunct instructor pool. As an adjunct faculty member, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of courses in Theatre, including acting, directing, playwriting, and theatre history.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Theatre courses at the college level, including lectures, discussions, and performances
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the college's goals and objectives
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide activities, such as curriculum development and committee work
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and implement new programs and initiatives
Requirements
  • Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in Theatre
  • OR - Master's degree or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theatre arts/performance
  • OR - Bachelor's degree or Bachelors of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance AND Master's degree in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature, or humanities
  • OR - Equivalency: An official transcript documenting successful completion of any Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education AND official transcripts documenting successful completion of 24 semester units in the discipline at the upper division and graduate level, a minimum of which must be 12 graduate level semester units
Working Conditions

Adjunct faculty members are expected to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Assignments may include teaching at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations.

Salary and Benefits

Adjunct faculty members are paid on an hourly basis, with a starting rate of $88.30 per hour. Benefits include access to college facilities and resources, as well as opportunities for professional development.
