Key Responsibilities
  • Assume leadership roles within the department and institution, prioritizing student needs and collaboration across disciplines.
  • Develop and implement effective academic support programs, utilizing student support resources and technology.
  • Teach and facilitate dynamic learning environments, adapting pedagogy to individual student needs and class requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff, ensuring seamless academic support services.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in disability support and academic accommodations.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in Counseling or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Guidance Counseling, Student Personnel, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Education Counseling, Social Work, Career Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, or related field.
  • Either 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate-level coursework specifically related to people with disabilities, or completion of a graduate-level counseling practicum or field work courses in a post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or a program dealing predominantly with people with disabilities.
  • Two years of full-time experience in counseling for students with disabilities or counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military, or private social welfare organizations with responsibilities predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities.
Working Conditions

Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening) and Saturday classes. Adjunct Salary Rate: Starting at $88.30 per hour.
