Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nursing Care Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Quality Care: Administer medications and treatments according to established care plans, maintain competency in all required nursing skills, and ensure accurate inventory of medications.
  • Lead and Guide: Provide direction to Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and monitor the workflow of the unit to ensure coordination of care.
  • Medication Management: Maintain accurate distribution of medications to all residents, monitor for medication side effects, and ensure compliance with manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Communication and Education: Communicate effectively with residents, guardians, and family members on the current condition and needs of residents, provide teaching and training as needed, and ensure quality end-of-life care.
  • Preventative Measures: Ensure preventative measures are in place, such as specialty mattresses, foam boots, weekly skin checks, and toileting schedules.
  • Restraint Alternatives: Respond promptly to alarms and ensure restraint alternatives are in place, including personal alarms, cushion alarms, and wheelchair belts.
  • Quality End-of-Life Care: Provide and ensure quality end-of-life care, using comfort baskets to meet resident and family needs, and demonstrating compliance with post-mortem care procedures.
  • Physical Demands: Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, performing physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting, and pushing/pulling objects.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA), Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Work Location or Compact Multi-State License.
