Position Overview
The Department of Geological Sciences at California State University is seeking applications for its adjunct faculty pool. We invite applications from qualified, student-focused individuals to instruct in various disciplines within Geological Sciences.
Role Description
This is a temporary position within a pool of adjunct lecturers that the department will utilize as needed. Selected candidates will be contacted when teaching opportunities arise.
Availability
Appointments from this adjunct pool are temporary and are often made shortly before the commencement of the academic term. Applicants must be prepared to respond on very short notice.
Essential Qualifications
- An advanced degree (Master's, PhD, or equivalent) in Geology or a related discipline.
- Prior teaching experience at the university level is required.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with a diverse student population, including first-generation college attendees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Significant teaching experience with diverse groups and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative educational environment.
- Relevant professional experience in the field.

About the Department
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at California State University encompasses five departments, offering a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Department of Geological Sciences provides two undergraduate degrees (B.S. in Geology and B.A. in Earth Science), an M.S. in Geology, and a minor in Geology. Our courses emphasize hands-on field and laboratory experiences, promoting original student research.

Employment Conditions
