We are currently seeking a Safety and Compliance Specialist for our operations. In this role, you will be instrumental in promoting our corporate vision, mission, and core values at Action Packaging.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Safety Management
- Assist with OSHA recordkeeping and compliance reporting.
- Collaborate with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Deliver OSHA/EPA/DOT mandated training for new hires, ongoing education, and compliance programs.
- Identify and assess hazardous conditions and practices within the workplace, conducting inspections to evaluate physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide guidance on compliance regulations.
- Document, compile, and investigate all incidents, reviewing reports to recommend corrective and preventive actions. Lead investigations as necessary.
- Guide onsite personnel in accident investigations, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and implementing effective countermeasures.
- Follow up on safety action items to ensure completion.
- Organize and facilitate Safety Committee meetings.
- Support ongoing improvement efforts to ensure the site adheres to best practice standards, fostering a culture of Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA).
- Assist in achieving productivity, material control, product quality, on-time delivery, and customer service objectives.
- Interpersonal Skills—maintain confidentiality, remain receptive to others' ideas, and demonstrate a willingness to explore new approaches.
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proactive and hands-on approach to driving improvements and resolving root cause issues in Continuous Improvement (CI) and EHS.
- Effective communication skills across various mediums, audiences, and contexts, including training and instruction.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and other relevant software tools.
- Experience in EHS, preferably within the corrugated packaging sector, with a solid understanding of regulatory requirements.
- Experience conducting audits and implementing EHS management systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong listening abilities.
- Detail-oriented in recordkeeping practices.
- No direct reports.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 30 hours of OSHA Training for General Industry.
- Understanding of industrial safety and environmental practices in a workplace setting.
- Preferred: Six Sigma Green Belt or similar LEAN/Continuous Improvement certification.
- Preferred: ISO 9001 certification.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or a related field.
- Preferred: Three years of experience in safety and/or human resources within a manufacturing environment, along with an associate degree or higher.
