Trauma Program Nurse Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Trauma Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Director with the daily management of the trauma program. This position is responsible for the assessment, coordination, and evaluation of all aspects of care provided to trauma patients, ensuring the optimization of the trauma care system.
Educational Requirements:
A Master's degree is preferred, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution. A current RN license in Ohio is mandatory. Additional qualifications such as State of Ohio EMS Instructor or Special Topics Instructor, TNCC instructor, and certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support are preferred.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of three years of recent experience in emergency or critical care nursing is required, with at least five years of overall nursing experience. Certification in emergency nursing or critical care nursing is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
The role requires a comprehensive understanding of both technical and professional nursing practices. Candidates should possess the ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions based on established guidelines.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
This position involves significant judgment and analytical skills to address challenges and make decisions based on factual analysis and general principles.
Scope of Impact:
The Trauma Coordinator will have a direct impact on the operations of the work area and will be accountable for developing strategic plans to achieve desired outcomes.
Interpersonal Communication:
Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves advising others on sensitive issues and requires effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic oversight to ensure alignment with the health center's mission and values.
- Plan, direct, assess, and evaluate operations to maintain market competitiveness and adherence to organizational policies.
- Manage departmental resources effectively and participate in the budget process.
- Coordinate trauma services and ensure compliance with trauma criteria.
- Serve as a role model in nursing practices and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Evaluate care provided to trauma patients and contribute to quality assurance reviews.
- Coordinate trauma education and community outreach programs.
- Engage in research to enhance trauma care practices.
