POSITION SUMMARY:
The Trauma Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director in the daily management of the trauma program. This position is accountable for the evaluation, coordination, and assessment of all care aspects provided to trauma patients, ensuring the optimization of the trauma care system.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's degree is preferred, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution required. A current RN license in Ohio is mandatory. Additional qualifications such as State of Ohio EMS Instructor or Special Topics Instructor, TNCC instructor certification, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support are preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should possess a minimum of three years of recent experience in emergency or critical care nursing, alongside at least five years of overall nursing experience. Certifications in emergency nursing or critical care nursing are preferred, along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification and Trauma Nursing Core Course certification.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The role demands a comprehensive understanding of both technical and professional nursing practices. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions based on established guidelines. Proficiency in utilizing advanced equipment requiring extensive training is essential.

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:
This position requires a high level of judgment and analytical skills to address various challenges. The Trauma Coordinator will make decisions based on factual analysis and general principles, often with limited precedent.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND IMPACT:
The Trauma Coordinator is responsible for the effective operation of their work area and contributes to the strategic planning of the trauma program. This role is crucial in influencing the overall success of the health services provided.

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION:
Strong communication skills are essential for this role, as the Trauma Coordinator will frequently advise and collaborate with others on sensitive issues. The ability to manage staff and delegate responsibilities effectively is also required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure alignment with the health center's mission and values.
2. Oversee planning, assessment, and evaluation of trauma services to maintain market competitiveness and operational effectiveness.
3. Manage departmental resources in accordance with budgetary guidelines and departmental objectives.
4. Coordinate trauma services and ensure compliance with established trauma criteria.
5. Serve as a role model in trauma nursing practice and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
6. Assess and evaluate care provided to trauma patients, ensuring quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards.
7. Develop and coordinate trauma education programs for staff and the community.
8. Engage in research and development to enhance trauma care practices.
