Lead Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lead Patient Care Technician to join our team at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the overall success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care by performing delegated tasks related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a team-oriented and collaborative approach to patient care.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care and performing advanced technical skills as needed.
- Document and report patient observations to licensed staff, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
- Transport patients, supplies, specimens, and equipment within the facility, promoting a safe and efficient environment.
- Contribute to Carilion Clinic's performance improvement activities, actively participating in obtaining desired service line/departmental outcomes.
- Exhibit competent knowledge of EMR and assist with chart audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in unit quality surveillance activities, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
- Lead unit huddles, participate in IDR's (unit-based interdepartmental patient rounds), and provide support for department/unit staff scheduling.
- Order department/unit supplies and equipment, stocking and organizing supplies to ensure a smooth operation.
- Assist with customer service, providing wayfinding, answering phones, and making meaningful connections with patients and visitors.
- Process equipment between patients, cleaning unit-based equipment and gathering supplies needed to operate equipment.
- Operate and maintain general office equipment, following procedures for timely equipment repairs.
- Lead streamlined, timely, and comprehensive admission, transfer, and discharge processes, prioritizing the patient experience.
- Assist in coordinating patient flow into/out of the area, using department/unit-specific software and Intranet.
- Welcome and assist patients and visitors, serving as the face of the unit and role-modeling service excellence behaviors.
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Previous experience in direct patient care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; Certified Nursing Assistant required for critical access facilities.
- AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
