Patient Care Technician

About the RoleAs a Patient Care Technician/Nursing Assistant, you will be part of a dynamic team that provides comprehensive care to patients with complex medical needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing basic nursing care and performing advanced technical skills for specified age groups
- Transporting patients, supplies, specimens, and equipment within the facility
- Appropriately documenting and reporting patient observations to licensed staff
- Contributing to Carilion Clinic's performance improvement activities
- Reviewing medical records for outstanding orders
- Processing equipment between patients as needed
- Managing admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Coordinating patient flow into/out of area using department/unit-specific software and Intranet
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school graduate or GED equivalent
- Close attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Successfully complete orientation and competency validation
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (CPR) required within 6 months of hire
- Certified Nursing Assistant license preferred
- Previous experience in direct patient care preferred
