Position Overview

As the Legal Counsel with a specialization in Employment law, you will be responsible for managing all employment-related legal matters throughout the Americas Region, collaborating closely with the AVP, Legal. In addition to providing strategic guidance to HR and management on employment law within the Americas Region, you will also have the opportunity to advise on a broader spectrum of legal issues beyond employment law. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a comprehensive range of employment law issues, offering counsel on topics such as recruitment, employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, workplace safety, privacy, leaves, terminations, and workforce restructuring.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks associated with employment matters while providing targeted legal advice.
  • Partner with HR on employee grievances and investigations.
  • Provide legal insights on litigations, complaints, and audits pertaining to employment laws.
  • Draft and negotiate employment contracts.
  • Assist HR in formulating employment-related policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed on updates in employment laws and regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external legal advisors.
  • Conduct training sessions on employment law.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from a reputable law school with a strong academic record.
  • Licensed to practice law, preferably in New York.
  • 3-6 years of experience in employment law.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws across various jurisdictions.
  • International experience or a willingness to learn about international employment law.
  • Experience in the retail or consumer products sectors is advantageous.
  • Ability to merge legal and business perspectives effectively.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • A good sense of humor and a collaborative spirit.
  • Willingness to work in an office setting and travel as necessary.
