Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Process Engineer specializing in Injection Molding, you will be responsible for enhancing part and tool design, developing effective production methodologies, and driving continuous improvement through established scientific principles of injection molding. Your expertise in tool design, operational analysis, and production metrics will be vital in achieving excellence in quality and efficiency.

This role is governed by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), necessitating U.S. citizenship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in the design and enhancement of new tooling, as well as the revision or repair of existing tools.
  • Evaluate customer components and provide guidance on Design for Molding (DFM).
  • Innovate molding solutions to meet complex customer demands.
  • Conduct moldflow analysis using Solidworks to ensure successful molding of components while adhering to customer specifications.
  • Prepare documentation for mold qualification, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
  • Set up, sample, and determine optimal molding parameters for new, revised, or repaired tooling.
  • Continuously assess and refine molding processes and parameters.
  • Prepare molded samples for inspection and testing purposes.
  • Conduct mold tooling qualifications, compiling end item data packs.
  • Provide ongoing training and education to set-up, material, and production teams on current best practices in injection molding.
  • Assist in cycle time reductions, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of production mold tooling.
  • Establish reliable and safe manufacturing systems within the molding department.
  • Enhance process capability and production output while upholding and improving quality standards.
  • Collect, document, and communicate data clearly and concisely.
  • Perform testing for new colors and raw materials.
  • Participate in or lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes.
  • Utilize six-sigma quality tools as appropriate to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control processes and outcomes.
  • Maintain and support processes, procedures, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to your role.
  • Review all procedures associated with your position as per the training matrix.
  • Complete all required training in a timely manner as outlined in the training matrix.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Dedication to a safety-first culture in all tasks.
  • Proficient in Solidworks and/or other CAD software.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities to meet customer expectations.
  • Independent worker with a strong work ethic, self-motivated, and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of mold construction and components.
  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering or Plastics Engineering Technology with 3-5 years of processing experience in injection molding, or a combination of relevant industry experience totaling 5-10 years.
  • Ability to operate injection molding machinery.
  • Capability to collaborate on cross-functional teams to support core business objectives, ensuring timely delivery of quality products.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • A collaborative team player committed to achieving professional development goals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position requires exposure to manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes are mandatory.
  • Generally, ambient temperatures and standard plant lighting are present throughout the facility.
