OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to oversee one or more specialized accounting teams, which may encompass various operational accounting functions. This role is pivotal in managing accounting projects, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and generating comprehensive financial statements and reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs team operations to achieve set objectives efficiently.
  • Evaluates team performance against established benchmarks.
  • Implements performance standards and assesses actual outcomes.
  • Oversees staffing, performance evaluations, and compensation for team members.
  • Maintains complex accounting records and ensures all accounting functions are performed accurately.
  • Ensures compliance with timelines and operational goals related to month-end closing activities.
  • Prepares various management reports linked to team responsibilities.
  • Supervises daily entries, account monitoring, and balance maintenance.
  • Oversees the creation of monthly financial statements.
  • Ensures adherence to financial control policies, including reconciliations.
  • Encourages a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identifies and implements process enhancements to optimize team performance.
  • Utilizes technology to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Recognizes opportunities for refining accounting processes.
  • Addresses technical accounting issues promptly and effectively.
  • Manages special accounting projects relevant to team duties.
  • Coordinates team efforts during corporate acquisitions, divestitures, and system upgrades.
  • Responds to inquiries from auditors and regulatory bodies concerning team responsibilities.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with peers and management across various functions.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

Responsible for providing constructive feedback, fostering employee development, and ensuring a robust talent pipeline for succession planning. Directly supervises accounting staff and managers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is essential; MBA or professional certifications (CPA, CMA, etc.) are highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience is required, with banking or public accounting experience being advantageous.
  • Prior management experience is necessary.
  • Proficiency in advanced spreadsheet applications is required.
  • Ability to learn and navigate financial systems effectively.
  • Exhibits strong leadership competencies, including strategic thinking and community engagement.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in the field.
  • Exceptional communication skills are essential for effective interaction with all levels of staff.
  • Possesses extensive functional expertise and broad business acumen.
