Position Overview:
The E.W. Scripps Company, a prominent media organization, is in search of a skilled Accountant. This role will contribute to the overall accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations, standard journal entries, and monthly divisional reports in accordance with established policies.
- Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budgeted figures.
- Support daily transaction processing, including payments to revenue partners.
- Oversee the compilation of quarterly financial packets for consolidation.
- Assist in standardizing accounting practices and workflow processes.
- Provide guidance to outsourced service providers and business units regarding policies and procedures.
- Address inquiries from business units and assist directors and senior staff in resolving issues.
- Collaborate with the director on special projects.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
- A minimum of 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in general accounting, including account reconciliation, journal entries, fixed assets, and report generation.
- Experience in the media industry is advantageous.

Desired Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and independence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with advanced functions such as macros is a plus.
- Willingness to work extended hours during month-end close.
- Knowledge of Workday or similar financial software is preferred.
