Pafford EMS is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team. As an EMT, you will be responsible for providing basic life support to patients in emergency situations, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of critically ill and injured individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide fast and efficient basic life support to patients, utilizing advanced techniques and equipment.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, making differential diagnoses and providing appropriate treatment.
- Perform critical physical examinations and understand pharmacological treatment of critically ill and injured patients.
- Direct the work of other personnel, including EMRs, police departments, and other EMTs, at the scene of a medical emergency.
- File standardized reports of patient information and care, including nature of request for aid, pertinent past history, therapy provided, diagnosis, disposition, and sufficient patient information for billing purposes.
- Communicate effectively with physicians on duty at hospitals to relate patient condition and obtain orders for treatment.
- Transport patients to institutions of medical care, operating emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all conditions.
- Clean and maintain equipment, and properly complete patient statistics and medical information forms for administrative use.
- EMR licensure and CPR for the Health Care Provider certification.
- Good knowledge of street systems, addresses, and physical layout of the area, as well as rescue equipment and emergency medical equipment used in basic life support.
- Ability to perform technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy, understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs of victims, and maintain a professional and objective approach to patient care.
- Ability to learn new concepts in rescue and medical skills and techniques, and in pre-hospital care.
- Ability to direct the work of other personnel, teach, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, assisting agencies, hospital personnel, and the general public.
The work requires the incumbent to operate emergency medical vehicles, move medical equipment, and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations. Situations can involve vehicular, industrial, and residential accidents, injuries, or illnesses and occur anywhere in our coverage area. At times, the work requires movement over various types of terrain, including hilly, steep, rocky, rough, and/or wet/slippery surfaces.
The incumbent must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of the injury to the mode of transportation (vehicle/helicopter) and attend the injured party to the hospital. In order to perform a physical assessment of the injured party, the incumbent must see, hear, and communicate with the injured party.
