Position Overview
This role is designed for an in-house attorney within Visa's Legal and Ethics & Compliance division, serving as a vital member of the legal team that supports the North America Sales and Client divisions. In a dynamic and competitive payments landscape, these teams play a crucial role in advancing Visa's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
As part of this team, you will:

  • Draft and negotiate intricate business agreements, including incentive, branding, and strategic alliance contracts with traditional payment system stakeholders such as issuers, merchants, processors, as well as emerging participants like fintechs, neobanks, and cryptocurrency wallets.
  • Engage extensively with Visa's external clientele, including financial institutions, processors, merchants, and fintech companies.
  • Develop, revise, and manage template agreements to streamline the contract administration process.
  • Provide legal support to Visa's account executives who oversee global client relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with internal subject matter experts and regional legal advisors.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid role, allowing for a combination of remote and office work. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office 2-3 designated days per week, based on leadership directives, with a general expectation of being in the office at least 50% of the time, contingent on business requirements.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 2 years of experience with an advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA), or no experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years with an advanced degree.
  • Active membership and eligibility to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams and build effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts into business-oriented advice.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating, or litigating complex commercial agreements.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and effectively within a small legal team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of matters efficiently.
  • Solid business acumen with an understanding of the company's interests and the ability to foresee potential issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred knowledge of the payment services industry, credit and debit processing, legal and regulatory frameworks, intellectual property law, and antitrust law.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a positive demeanor and a sense of humor.

Additional Information
Work Hours: Flexible based on departmental needs.
Travel Requirements: This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This role will be performed in an office environment, requiring the ability to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and via telephone, and operate standard office equipment.

The estimated salary range for this position is between $165,400.00 and $215,000.00 annually, which may include potential sales incentives. Salary may vary based on job-related factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for bonuses and equity.
