About the Role

The Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center at UC San Diego is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Administration to join our team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a critical role in overseeing all research operations, including the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG).

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all research operations, including the NCI CCSG
  • Partner with the MCCC Cancer Center Director to envision, map out, and execute the strategic plan for the MCCC
  • Collaborate with the MCCC Director and other members of the MCCC senior leadership team, as well as UCSD Health System (HS) and School of Medicine (SOM) leaders to advance the MCCC to a position of academic and clinical eminence
  • Provide strategic planning and evaluation, research administration, personnel management, budgeting and financial operations, space and shared resources management, training and education, community outreach and engagement in alignment with the requirements of an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus eight years of relevant experience, or twelve years of combined relevant experience, education and training
  • Excellent leadership skills to oversee large or multiple academic departments and/or centers and/or institutes through subordinate managers
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, accounting principles, forecasting, budgeting, audit and internal control systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, facilitate relationships, collaborate, persuade and influence
  • Ability to inspire and build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, physician leaders and a staff in a complex, multi-site environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business, health administration or clinical degree
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in research administration
  • Leadership experience within a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
What We Offer
