About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Process Safety Engineer to join our Americas Operations Process Safety team. This team is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of various assets across the region, including process facilities, pipeline systems, customer installations, and fleet equipment. Utilizing a comprehensive suite of tools and methodologies, the team adheres to corporate process safety standards and policies by assessing risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our operational assets encompass a range of technologies, including air separation, hydrogen production, and liquid CO2 production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate Process Safety Assessments, including Process Hazard Analyses, to identify potential hazards and ensure adequate safeguards are in place.
  • Conduct specialized risk assessments and consequence studies, including quantified risk analysis and dispersion modeling, in collaboration with the Central Process Safety Team.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and incident investigations to enhance safety protocols.
  • Provide process safety consulting and review to support Management of Change (MOC) and Mechanical Integrity initiatives, ensuring compliance with Air Products standards.
  • Oversee the global safety retrofit program, offering technical guidance and prioritization to achieve intended risk reductions.
  • Contribute to the development of global process safety standards, tools, training programs, and operational processes.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process safety performance.
  • Assist in interpreting national and local process safety regulations, providing necessary documentation for compliance.
  • Review process safety calculations and analyses conducted by peers.
  • Travel to various sites to support process safety assessments as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred; other relevant disciplines will be considered based on experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial gas, oil and gas, petrochemical, or chemical industries in a process safety or engineering role.
  • Familiarity with flowsheets, safety relief scenarios, and unit operations is essential.
  • Experience with consequence modeling and risk quantification is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, process controls, and electrical design is beneficial.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
