About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our Americas Operations Process Safety team. This team is crucial in ensuring the safe operation of our assets across various sectors, including process plants and pipeline networks. Utilizing a comprehensive suite of tools and methodologies, the team adheres to corporate process safety standards while evaluating risks and developing strategies to safeguard our employees, customers, and communities. Our operations encompass diverse technologies such as air separation, hydrogen production, and liquid CO2 production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and lead Process Safety Assessments, including Process Hazard Analyses, to identify potential hazards and recommend necessary safeguards.
  • Conduct specialized risk assessments and consequence studies, collaborating with the Central Process Safety Team to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in root cause analysis and incident investigations to enhance safety protocols.
  • Provide expert process safety consulting and support for Management of Change (MOC) and Mechanical Integrity processes to ensure compliance with Air Products standards.
  • Oversee the global safety retrofit program, offering technical guidance and prioritization for risk reduction initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of global process safety standards, tools, and training programs.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance process safety performance.
  • Assist in interpreting national and local process safety regulations and provide necessary documentation for compliance.
  • Review process safety calculations and analyses conducted by team members.
  • Travel to various sites to support process safety assessments as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred; other relevant disciplines will be considered based on experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial gas, oil and gas, petrochemical, or chemical industries, specifically in process safety or engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with flowsheets, safety relief scenarios, and unit operations is essential.
  • Experience with consequence modeling and risk quantification tools is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, process controls, and electrical design is beneficial.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are required.
