Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Administrator and in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, the Director of Staff Development (RN/LVN) is tasked with the strategic planning, execution, and assessment of educational initiatives for all personnel, alongside ensuring quality assurance and enhancement within the facility.


Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in the practicing state.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a long-term care environment.
  • Completion of a 24-hour continuing education course focused on the development and evaluation of nursing educational programs.
  • Demonstrated mental and physical fitness.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Key Responsibilities:
Orientation:
  • Facilitates comprehensive theoretical and practical orientation for all new hires.
  • Maintains documentation of orientation materials in employee files.
  • Ensures timely recording of all health screenings within the first week of employment.
  • Reviews and educates staff on Blood Borne Pathogen policies.

Training:
  • Develops and implements a continuous in-service training program for all staff.
  • Provides necessary educational reinforcement to meet the annual training requirements for nursing assistants.
  • Coordinates mandatory annual training sessions for all employees in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepares and disseminates an annual training calendar to management and department heads.

Leadership:
  • Oversees proper patient care practices, including regular repositioning and hygiene.
  • Ensures timely responses to resident needs and maintains a high standard of care.
  • Conducts regular evaluations of nursing assistants to ensure compliance with care standards.
  • Facilitates ongoing education regarding infection control policies and procedures.
  • Manages scheduling and assignments for nursing assistants, ensuring adequate staffing levels.

Administrative Duties:
  • Keeps accurate and organized records of all in-service training activities.
  • Assists in reinforcing nursing policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and supports nursing staff in adhering to established clinical practices.
  • Participates in all required meetings and training sessions.

Consumer Service:
  • Maintains a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Addresses consumer concerns in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensures the protection of resident rights at all times.
