Position Summary

Peterbilt is currently on the lookout for a Product Change Management Specialist to oversee and coordinate activities related to product modifications. This includes the assessment of documentation, information gathering and dissemination, conflict resolution, and the acceleration of tasks to achieve project objectives.

This position is based at our division headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Product Change Management Specialist include:

  • Oversee product change management systems for engineering initiatives.
  • Administer part number and title information.
  • Examine engineering drawings, validate parts loaded for view-only graphics, and manage parts within the system.
  • Request purchasing information as needed.
  • Track the completion of purchasing agreements and tooling approvals when necessary.
  • Ensure production part approval processes are scheduled with Supplier Quality.
  • Review engineering change notices, work packages, and product change documentation.
  • Coordinate engineering change notices with the Bill of Materials team.
  • Monitor the progress of production part approvals.
  • Firmly schedule engineering change notices for implementation.
  • Process early implementation requests and exceptions to standard procedures.
  • Manage product change management systems for significant projects.
  • Assist program managers with project tracking, scheduling, and reporting on major initiatives.
  • Collaborate with materials and change control to minimize impacts associated with engineering change notice implementations.
  • Evaluate the timing of introducing new parts and phasing out old ones based on current inventory levels and urgency of change.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for gathering and distributing product change information.
  • Identify and expedite actions on items that are behind schedule in accordance with established protocols.
  • Coordinate planning and expediting activities with various sections, departments, and suppliers, addressing problems as they arise.
  • Provide systems training to new engineers and other users.
  • Work with IT to resolve system issues and assist with enhancements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient understanding of product change management systems.
  • Competent in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret engineering change notices and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication and research capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
