Dive Operations Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dive Operations Manager to join our team at the Georgia Aquarium. As a key member of our Dive Operations Department, you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation, daily execution, and quality control of our Dive Immersion Programs and other programs as applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the tracking and implementation of the budget for the Dive Immersion section of the Dive Operations Department.
  • Work with staff in developing and achieving Dive Immersion Program goals that promote the mission and vision of the Georgia Aquarium and coincide with professional associations, certifications, and accreditations.
  • Assist with staff education, training, and safety plan with goals and objectives.
  • Train and monitor Dive Immersion (DI) staff.
  • Conduct Dive Immersion Programs in accordance with the Georgia Aquarium Dive Safety Program, including staff diver training and guest diver program administration.
  • Enforce policies and procedures that ensure the safety of both staff and guests.
  • Work with other departments in the evaluation and development of enhanced guest experience and public relations opportunities.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Present evidence of all dive training and diving history.
  • Pass Georgia Aquarium's Written Dive Knowledge Exam (minimum score of 80%).
  • Pass Georgia Aquarium's Dive Physical.
  • Pass Georgia Aquarium's Swim Test annually.
  • Pass an Open Water checkout dive with Diving Safety Officer or Designee.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years of experience in dive instruction and guidance.
  • Aquarium-related guest program experience is preferred.
  • Hold a current, active, certification as an Open Water Diving instructor and a Closed-Circuit Instructor or higher from an internationally recognized diving agency.
  • Hold current First Aid and Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, and Oxygen Provider Instructor certifications from a nationally recognized agency.
  • Certifications as a Scuba Pro service inspector/technician or the ability to obtain required certifications within 6 months from the date of hire.
  • Certifications as a Poseidon service inspector/technician or the ability to obtain required certifications within 6 months from the date of hire.
  • Certifications as a PSI/PCI service inspector/technician or the ability to obtain required certifications within 6 months from the date of hire.
  • Additional education and diving-related certification(s), i.e., Divers with disabilities instructor, Free Diver, from internationally recognized dive agency, and any additional training/experience in underwater guest diver programs are preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of marine species and environments.
  • Possess a valid passport, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months from the date of hire.
  • Above-average ability to organize, manage time, and set priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities to meet departmental requirements.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to interact with staff and guests.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with Adobe Products (Premier, Photoshop, Lightroom).
